If your business has been around since before the Internet and social media, securing your business’s domain name and figuring out profile names has probably been a more organic process.
But if you are starting a new enterprise, or waking up from a coma and reviving your old one, you will want to go ahead and secure social media profiles in a name that is relevant to that business. Even if you aren’t ready for a social media presence and strategy, you should reserve the most relevant profile names so that when you DO start mobilizing your online presence you may do so with a name that is easy to associate with your company.
We live in a world where everything has seemingly been thought of, reused and remixed so don’t think you are the only person who has thought of or will think of your perfect social media handle. Get in there early. And if you don’t get the one you want, don’t be afraid to check back later. You can always change it to an even more relevant name in the future.
