3 Types of Posts: Social Media Marketing Campaigns

Social media marketing is a necessary part of any brands promotional strategy. Content Marketing is the new “catch phrase” that you will see all over the web, and it’s essentially a necessary component within your digital marketing strategy. While it may seem that having a lot of promotional content would be the most effective, this strategy can have an adverse effect. Ever heard the saying “variety is the spice of life?” It holds true with your content marketing. There are many different types of posts that can prove useful, and as Social Advisors we are going over the 3 that we find the most effective.

Resources

Every post of your campaign should have industry specific resources. Your page will attract traffic based off the goods or services that you offer, sparking an interest within your visitor. These resources have to add value to a prospective customers’ life, either real or hypothetical. Your ultimate goal is to inform, explain, and engage. Examples of this type of content can be short 3rd party articles, how-to-tutorials or videos, topics to promote discussion and any other content that is relevant to your business or industry.

Next, we have specific images in which the campaign should include. Pictures have a higher interaction rate than other types of posts. They need to make you stand out from your competition. While they should still be relevant to your business or industry, you tend to have a little more leeway. Common examples of this are Motivation Monday, Throwback Thursday, Sunday Funday, and specific holidays or events.

Promote Your Company

The third important types of posts the campaign should have are ones that promote your company. This is probably the most important one to the “suits”. Be careful with these posts however, too much selling isn’t engaging to your customers. It is smart to keep the sales posts to a minimum, the goal is for your customers to see the value in your brand before being demanded that they buy something. Try using the 80/20 rule, with 80% of your posts being all other posts (images, resources, etc.) and 20% of them being about selling and promoting your company.

The goal of content marketing is to build and increase value in your brand and image. Having engaging content will create interest in your company.
